Psalms 81: 1-16
“But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.”
The heart of God to His people is seeing them safe and prospering. It’s His dearest desire to see our enemies being brought down and removing the burdens that we carry. What has been man’s deepest desire is also God’s most inward desire.
Listening is one of the skills which we deeply need to develop in our lives. In the bible from time to time, God wanted His people to listen to Him. We live in a world where everything around is speaking something, good or bad. In the midst of these sounds still in there is God who always speak as well hoping to be heard by man. He may not speak louder, fancier or soft than other voices but He definitely speaks. The biggest challenge of hearing Him is, he doesn’t speak the way we want Him to speak to us. He speaks the way He oughts to speak to us.
Verse 14, “how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!”
It takes grace to listen. Miracles and blessings are in the way of every believer, but only through listening can grasp them. God has a clear picture in Him about us, and He speaks from and towards that picture. As men we always fight with what He sees and say concerning us, even though we might hear Him speaking. This is because what God see we haven’t been able to perceive yet, and what He says seems unrealistic.
This psalms 81 speaks about our whole life but we can walk as hopeless people because of the life worries. I don’t have money, I’m single, always weak, nothing good comes out of me, every one hates me, my husband isn’t well educated. All of this are the voices which we hear and keep on hearing, depriving the supernatural chance to work in our life. It’s like God doesn’t speak concerning the things of this life when He speaks but He most certainly speaks. Sarah, I know you want a baby and next year you will have a baby. Gideon you want freedom from the philistine’s oppression, you are the might man of valour. Woman, you want to be healed, stand up and walk. This what God speaks. This is how He speaks.
Jesus says it is life worries that make the word of God to not grow and have roots. God surely care for us, more than the whole creation. He knows what we are anxious about and He is always there to deal with it. Resting in Him and His word is what we need to do. It requires us to listen and understand that He cannot go against His word. His covenant is what we need to hear. The word of God holds our life and has all the answers to our questions. But it needs to grow and have roots in us, and this is only through faith.
Verse 6 “I removed burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket”
Whatever bad or unpleasing that life throughs at us and we become anxious, is a burden. Our God is forever present to remove the burdens from our shoulders. He removes the weight completely from us, that’s His character. Israel being under Egypt was a burden and God spoke to Moses to remove this burden from them. We are His people and He is our God. Listening to Him needs to be what our ears to sharpened to. For its through listening to Him we will live a glorious and beautiful life on earth.
